You don't always have the luxury of mounting your instrument where and how you wish. Here we present a few solutions for mounting you instruments within a mooring and on a buoy

Aquafin

Aquafin with Aquadopp Profiler in airThe Aquafin is designed for mooring an Aquadopp Current Meter or Current Profiler. It shackles into the mooring line and allows the Aquadopp to swivel freely so that its beams always look into undisturbed flow. Choose non-magnetic stainless steel or titanium for mooring loads of 1000, 2000 or 3000 lb. The Aquafin is made by OceanScience.

 

 

 

 

Aquadopp Clamp

Aquadopp Clamp (160x160)Delrin clamp and stainless steel hardware to hold Aquadopp or EasyQ. designed for the AquaFin, this clamp also serves as a general-purpose mounting fixture. Some people have adapted this clamp to attach Aquadopps to cables.  

 

 

 

 

Clamparatus

Clamparatus Drawing (small)The Oceanscience Group's "Clamparatus" makes it easy to mount an acoustic Doppler profiler, acoustic modem or other instrumentation on an existing navigation buoy.

The Clamparatus is manufactured of aluminum for ease of mounting. All hardware is 316 stainless or titanium. The Clamparatus was designed for NOAA's PORTS program and is used to provide real-time current information to ship captains. The standard Clamparatus mounts on the ubiquitous US Coast Guard 8x26 steel navigation buoy. Mounts for other buoy sizes are available.

  • Mounting system that easily and securely clamps to the buoy. No drilling, cutting or welding is required.
  • Sealed topside canister for batteries, radio modems and other electronics.
  • Mounts for the radio or satellite antennae.
