The world's longest Aquadopp Profilers
What do you do when you have four octagonal pipes deep in the ground, and you want to know the velocity of the water flowing through these pipes? No conventional flow sensor nor any standard Doppler current profiler could solve this challenge, so Alstom decided to talk to Nortek.
The purpose of the project is to get online information about the flow of cooling water through four large industrial pipes. Knowing the velocity, Alstom can apply the correct amount of chemicals to remove the SO2 in the water. The challenge for Nortek was to make custom-made current profilers that would physically reach the water where they have to measure. Not only did we have to make special transducer heads, we also had to make current profilers that were 1.5 meters long. The long, skinny profilers fit through very narrow manholes that are more than 1 meter below ground.
As always, we are pleased to be able to adapt our many technologies to the specials of our customers. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have a demanding application or problem you would like us to help solve.
