Innovation gets stamp of approval
On April 1st, 2008, The U.S. Patent Office "stamped" the SUV method for wave measurement with the number US 7,352,651 B2, and a formal patent was issued for this technology. The patent represents the culmination of three years of work where the concept of measuring waves from a subsurface buoy was suggested, developed, and tested in the North Atlantic.
Nortek on the move!
The activity level is growing all over the world and Nortek instrument sales made another 25% leap from 2006 to 2007. As a result, both NortekUSA in Annapolis and Dutch subsidiary Qmetrix have been forced to find new offices to meet the demand for more space.
Nortek UK “2008 Student Equipment Grant Awards”
Encouraged by the success of their previous competition, Nortek UK invited post-graduate students working in fields of marine science, to submit research proposals by the end of December 2007, for projects utilising a Nortek instrument. The authors of the two most outstanding proposals were to be awarded their chosen Nortek instrument, for a free 3 month deployment period during 2008. In addition, the best proposal also secured £500 in travel expenses, to attend a national conference in order to present his/her scientific results.
20 DW Aquadopps for Seatronics UK
Nortek deepwater Aquadopp has been selected by one of the world’s leading oceanographic companies. This time Seatronics UK needed 20 deepwater current meters for a deep water pipe route study in the Mediterranean, and careful comparison between the DW Aquadopp and other single point Doppler current meters led to a decision in favor of the Aquadopp.
Nortek delivers first ADCs
Nortek, in cooperation with Ott GmbH of Germany, has completed the development of a new handheld river current meter named "ADC". First delivery took place in November of 2007
