Nortek, in cooperation with Ott GmbH of Germany, has completed the development of a new handheld river current meter named "ADC". First delivery took place in November of 2007
The ADC has been under developement and testing for well over a year and has met with great succes both in tow tank tests and in river testing. The system consist of a 6 MHz, two-beam coherent Doppler system mounted on a wading rod and a control and processing unit that is attached to the to of the staff. Some novel elements are:
- Pressure sensor mounted in the probe lets you determine the depth of the velocity measurements
- Coherent processing for superior velocity data
- Remote sampling of the velocity (10-15 cm upstream) provides accurate and precise measurements
- Handheld processing unit har rechargeable batteries
- Small and light combined with non-corroding materials (plastics and stainless)
