Don Conlee joins NortekUSA

Dr. Don Conlee

Dr. Don Conlee joins NortekUSA with a broad background in oceanography and marine meteorology. Observations have always been his passion, from summer student internships with the National Weather Service measuring dew on soybean leaves, to microwave remote sensing of the atmosphere and ocean for his doctoral research.

Don is a retired U.S. Navy Oceanographer, completing a career with tours at sea where measuring and forecasting the environment had immediate consequences, and shore tours with diverse activities including managing operational data activities and R&D efforts. His final Navy tour was as the Skipper (CO) of the Navy’s enlisted meteorology, oceanography and met-ocean equipment training school.

Immediately prior to joining NortekUSA, Don was the Chief Scientist for NOAA’s National Data Buoy Center, where he helped lead the organization into ocean and climate measurements. This included field activity on USCG vessels deploying buoys, on light towers, and cruises aboard NOAA ships. Don is very active in the Integrated Ocean Observing System and international climate observing arenas
