AWAC binary data

Does any one know if there is any information for how the binary data outputed from the AWAC is organized? I am hoping to be able to read in the binary data directly into a python program I have created to look at the wave data. I would like to avoid having to first change the binary to ASCII using the nortek software. I can't find anything that explains the order of the bytes or how the data is packed (long int, short int... etc) Any ideas?

Hello Greg,
What you need to decipher the data structures coming from the AWAC (as well as any other Paradopp "class" of instrument) is the System Integrator Guide.
This document has the desciptions of all data structures from the AWAC, Aquadopp, Continental, Vector, etc.
It is not posted on our web site so you will have to contact Nortek to get a copy
