hi,
I have a colleague working on a survey ship fitted with a Nortek ADCP, bt they tell me the meter/software cannot record a log file in the extended ASCII format. The software version they are using is SurveyADP 1.24b. Could you tell me if this version can recorded Ext.ASCII please, and if not can they get an upgrade?
thanks
Sean

The Extended ASCII format is a serial port output format intended for the onboard integrated navigation system (e.g. Spectra). Online data recorded to disk is always in raw binary format and written to separate files for each sensor (.adp = Nortek NDP data, .gps = GPS data, .gyr = gyro data). This applies to all versions of the software.
If you need to record the Extended ASCII format to file you will have to use a separate program (e.g. HyperTerm) and read the output on a separate port via a null-modem serial cable.
Best Regards,
Oistein
