I have a question about time-stamps. I'm building a database for a client which requires me to merge current meter data with separate data files of GPS position and gyro-compass heading. The current meter files do not have position in, so I am proposing to use time as a common key. I would like to know where the current meter data gets its reference for the date-time field which is in the profile header, is it from the system clock of the computer running the software, or is it from a GPS related input. |
The system works like this; when you start the system, the PC clock is set to the GPS clock (automatically), The head is then set to the pc clock. ie all times are GPS time. If logged on the survey software all formats are time stamped with the PC clock
