River veloicity time series data needed...

Posted by Jahangir at December 25. 2007

Hi all

I am an electrical engineering student working on hydrokinetic turbines for river energy extraction. I would appreciate if someone can provide me with a set of time series data for a river stream having mean velocity around 1~1.5m/s and mean elevation of at least 1 m.  The length of data may range from few days to a year..its upto you.

I know my request is kind of wierd, but I have some reasons behind it. Please reply if you can end my frustrating year-long search for data. I can elaborate on my request if needed.

Thanks in advance

Jahangir

Dear Jahangir

What kind of averaging period should the data have?  A lot of the long term EasyQ/SLD monitoring stations have data that have been collected with an  averaging interval of 5-10 minutes.  The frequency characteristics of this data will obviously be very different from what you can expect with a sensor that collects data every 1 s.

Best regards, Atle Lohrmann
