In situ seeding for Vector ADV
Hello--
I am curious if anyone may have experience or ideas on how best to introduce particles (most likely CaCO3) into the sample volume of a Vector when deployed in an acoustically unfriendly area (various depths at approx. 100km offshore.) Deployment would likely be only for 2 hour intervals from a floating spar buoy.
Thanks for any ideas or references to any precedents.
What depth will your vector be? If it is in the surface, it may give adequate signal. If it is at depth, you will need time for the particles to sink. You can use Stokes formula as a first approximation, however turbulence will keep them in suspension. I do not know of anyone with seeding experience in the natural environment.
