Analog output on Vectrino

We want to use the analog outputs to monitor 3 Vectrino units using our data logging software. We need to calibrate our acquisition system. Thus we need the Vectrino to send the analog voltage that would represent its minimum, zero and its maximum velocity.

Open the terminal emulator, make sure the instrument is in command mode (displaying VECTRINO... etc when you send break), check for Hex Commands and use the Command line box to send the following hex commands:
4457 0000 0000 0000 0000 - sets all channels to zero velocity (nominal value 2.50 Volts)
4457 ff01 ff01 ff01 ff01       - sets all channels to maximum velocity (nominal value 5.00 Volts)
4457 00fe 00fe 00fe 00fe    - sets all channels to minimum velocity (nominal value 0.00 Volts)

These values are set directly to the 4 channels on the 10 bit output DAC, first value to channel 1, second to channel 2 etc. Note the byte swapping when sending the hex commands, the values above correspond to 0, +511 and -512 respectively. If you want to check your wiring you can of course apply a voltage to only one of the channels, for example 4457 00fe 0000 00fe 00fe will give you 2.5 volts in the second channel and 0 volts in the others.

The command for setting the analog output voltages on the Vectrino does not work on the latest hardware revision of the Vectrino. This problem has been fixed in firmware version 1.29 (both plus and regular version). Version 1.29 will soon be available for download from the Nortek support area. Unless you intend to use this command for calibrating the analog voltages, there is no need to upgrade.
