Real time systems

Hi there

The number of online wave and current profiling systems is growing quite rapidly. As an encouragement to us all - and showing that it isn't all hype - we propose that you take 5 minutes to list your system here.  In addition to showing that it actually can be made to work, we could all do with some ideas for what the WEB graphics should look like <img src=" />;)'>

The first one we would like to share with you is real time observing system developed by Justin Vandever and other at VIMS.  The system has been up and running for a year and the data is collected by an AWAC and processed with an internal NIP.  It is sent via underwater acoustic modem to a surface buoy and the radio link back to VIMS completes the telemetry.  Pretty cool!

Hi, here is a site with some really fancy graphics -- but not quite acessible to those of us who cannot read Chinese properly.

Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo, California) reports real-time AWAC data using the Nortek SeaState software on their website:  http://www.marine.calpoly.edu/awac/Summary.png   (summary)

Good work to Ian et al. for getting this system online!

Through support from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), researchers from ECU (Walsh and Corbett) are working with scientists from the Coastal Studies Institute (Mike Muglia, Mike Remige and Nancy White), Elizabeth City State University (Jinchun Yuan) and the USACE (Jeff Hansen) to monitor atmospheric and estuarine conditions in Albemarle Sound.

Below is a link to a plot of wave parameters measured by a Vector velocimeter.
