Acoustic Modem "lowpower" message

If you are using an Acoustic Modem (Benthos or Nortek w/Benthos technology) you will have to set the Modem with verbose OFF.
What happens if it is on is that when the Modem sees no activity for its defined stay awake period it will go to sleep and it will Tell You That. It looks like the following:
Here it is connected to an AWAC with a NIP (Nortek Internal Processor). When the Lowpower message is sent out, it wakes up the sleeping NIP which responds with the Time-stamp command prompt and an error message since it does not recognize the message as a command. The time stamp command prompt and error message in turn wakes up the Acoustic Modem. Then after the allotted time passes again the cycle repeats itself. This will happen over and over again.... slowly drainging your batteries
So again, the solution is to turn off the Verbose mode. This is register S13 for the modem. To set this, you simply have to do the following steps:
1) Connect to the modem directly to your PC and in a terminal emulator send a '+++' in rapid succession. This will place the modem in Command Mode.
2) Send 'ATS13=0', this will set the verbose mode to OFF.
3) Send 'AT&W', this will save the register settings so they are used the next time power is cycled
4) Send 'ATO', this will set the modem back into Online Mode
