Problems with surge

Posted by rachhope at May 30. 2007
Hi I keep trying to open a data file in Surge but I keep encountering an error message. I have tried downloading the file again but this doesnt seem to help. I can perform data conversion in Aquapro but Surge displays an error message saying error code 28 has occurered.

Help!

Hi Rachel,

The problem is most likely a bug with how we handle daylight savings time (summer/winter time).  The bug is not a minor fix so we will probably need some time to fix this.

In the short term there is a simple work-around.  You can edit the daylight savings time by double-clicking on the time in you icon tray and go into the "time zone" tab and uncheck the option for "Automatically adjust for daylight savings time".

Hope this helps,
Torstein

yep that will be the problem as the time changed part way through the survey. Is there anyway to get the velicoty data from the file? The data is available as V1, V2, V3 but the old ADP used to convert file automatically so you could view the data in Excel without the need for the graphical software.

The conversion to ASCII (like the old NDP) can be done with the standard software that came with your instrument.
