Free (GPL) Perl program to control Vector/etc. from Linux now available

Posted by chrismacgregor at February 11. 2008

Courtesy of Cybermato Consulting and Professor Grünbaum of the University of Washington (Seattle, WA, USA) Oceanography Dept., a completely free (free of charge, with source code, and free to copy/modify/reuse) Perl program to control a Vector velocimeter (and probably other Paradopp and similar products) is now available at:

http://www.cybermato.com/projects/vectorcontrol/

It has been written for and tested on Linux (Fedora 7), but should work on most any Linux, probably any BSD/Unix/etc. with little trouble, and would probably work on Windows with a few modifications.

It was written for and tested with a Vector.  I suspect that it would also work with other Paradopp type products with little or no modification, but I haven't had access to any, so I haven't tested that.
