max. vel. times max.range and minimum cell size

Posted by Ayal Anis at July 07. 2008

Hello,

Regarding the recent update of the 2 MHz HR AquaDopp capabilities, could someone inform about the new

"rule of thumb number" for the product of velocity magnitude and profiling range.

Ditto for the minimal cell size and the maximal number of cells one can safely use.

Best,

Ayal

Dear Ayal,

The extended velocity range that we have now implemented in the 2 MHz HR AquaDopp Profiler increases the product of velocity magnitude and profiling range by a factor of 3 so the new "rule of thumb number" is 0.9 m*m/s.

The minimum cell size is 7 mm for the 2 MHz and the maximum number of cells has been increased to 128 cells. It is now also possible to profile along a selectable number of beams. You should note that the smaller cell sizes pose some constraints on the rest of the setup, for example it is not possible to use the minimum cell size and extended velocity range and at the same time sample at 8 Hz. The software checks that the configuration is valid before a measurement can be started.

Best regards,

Sven Nylund
