What is done to calibrate the compass in an aquadopp?
Would you expect an Aquadopp to be susceptible to magnetic deviation of Iron structures?
Can this be corrected for or tested?

The Aquadopp compass consists of a three axis magnetometer and a two axis tilt sensor. The magnetometer is calibrated for linearity and offset at Nortek, as is the tilt sensor. In addition, the magnetometer is calibrated for offset in the software routine "compass calibration", which is accessible for all Aquadopp users.
If there is a magnetic source on the mounting frame the effect of this can - to a large degree - be calibrated by following the instructions in the "compass calibration" routine. The effectiveness of this routine depends on size of the magnetic object but generally works well if the magnetic field that the object generates is no more than half the earth magnetic field.
