Unable to connect to instrument

Posted by Atle Lohrmann at November 01. 2006
we've set Vectrino+ correctly by following the manual, but the instrument fails to respond while running the Communication>Terminal Emulator>Send Break. After pressing Stop Data Collection, it implies, "Auto connection failed" "Unable to detect baud rate", and "unable to connect to instrument". How can we settle this problem?

Dear Kabbalah

Please check the following.

1. Be sure that the communication cable is properly tightened to the instrument connector and that the power supply is connected properly to the cable.
2. With a multimeter/voltmeter please check that your power supply is working. You should measure about 24VDC.
3. If possible measure the current drawn from the instrument. You should measure about 70mA in command mode and about 150mA in data collection mode.
4. Do a loopback test and check that your PC COM port is working.

This information and more is found in the manual appendix 1. Please read trough this. Also check the attached pdf document if your system is not bougth after June 2006.

Hope this will help!

Best regards,
Marius Mathisen
