New Managing Director at Nortek

ISO recertification complete
We are pleased to announce that Nortek has been recertified for another three years under the ISO 9001:2008 standard. This means that the auditors have found that our production, development and distribution system for Doppler velocity systems are in compliance with the requirements of the standards.
Happy New Year
After a period of relative calm, we stand in front of a new year that we hope will bring important news in the form of new Doppler products and models. Kongsberg Maritime has developed a new system for measuring ocean currents along drilling risers. The data can be intergrated with the Kongsberg HiPAP positioning system to improve control of drilling operations.

Real Time System Offshore Puerto Rico
The first coastal data observation buoy for the Caribbean Integrated Coastal Ocean Observing System was deployed near the Puerto Rico insular shelf on June 9, 2009, employing a bottom-mounted AWAC with AST.
We are moving
We are in the process of moving our WEB site to a new hosting company. At the same time, we are expanding the site to become multilingual, representing each of the subsidiaries NortekUSA, NortekMed, NortekCN and Nortek b.v. NortekUSA Awards 2009 Student Equipment Grants
NortekUSA has awarded seven equipment and travel fund grants to graduate students working on innovative research projects focused on oceanographic, bio-physical and coastal engineering applications.

Nortek Scientific Collaboration Receives AIF Grant
A team of researchers from Dalhousie University and Memorial University, in collaboration with Nortek Scientific, have been awarded a 2009 Atlantic Innovation Fund grant to develop advanced acoustic technology for measuring fluid and sediment movement in aquatic environments.
Looking back at 2008
Nortek is pleased to announce that 2008 was another great year for the company. More than 1000 Doppler systems were shipped to customers in more than 50 different countries and the return repair rates were at an all time low. We sincerely hope we wil continue to be able to serve the scientific and engineering community equally well in 2009.
User seminar in Hangzhou
In October, more than 40 scientists and technicians from all over China gathered to attend the Nortek user seminar in Hangzhou. The two-seminar focused on the practical application of acoustic Dopper instrumentation in the field.

The Marine Exchange of San Francisco has deployed 1 of 3 new Nortek ATON Systems in San Francisco Bay to provide real-time current velocity measurements in support of vessel transport safety.
28 Vectrinos for Dalian University of Technology
We are pleased to see that the acceptance of the Vectrino laboratory velocimeter has reached a level where the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering of Dalian University of Technology can decide to purchase 28 units use in their laboratory.
Successful user symposium
Inspired by previous successful user symposia held in the US, Nortek had the pleasure of hosting the first European user symposium in Hyéres, France, between the 7th and 10th of October. More than 30 participants enjoyed a combination of user presentations and information about new products and applications, all set in the beautiful surroundings near the Mediterranian coast.
