Direction origin in wave data

Just to make sure once again, since i am being asked the question, is the convention for directions trigonometric (0 degree to the east)

or meteorological (0 is from the North)? Merci. Cheers. nw

0 degrees is toward North.  When we talk about degrees, 90 degrees is East, when we talk about radians, 0 radians is East.

Perfect, merci monsieur. Florida has been incredibly windy and stormy since you left.

Wave directions are reported as "Magnetic" North, with of course North being zero degrees, East as 90 degrees, etc.  Corrections for local deviations can be accounted for during wave processing by the user specifying the directional offset.
