Output string from Nortek to Orca Navigation System

Posted by Liam Flood at October 24. 2008

Hi,

We are using a vessel mounted sensor to produce current data for us. A client asked for this to be included in one of our output files.

An example of this is as follows:

E7010999 1   01224696080.4308
E7010999 1   01224696090.8988
E7010999 1   01224696101.6038
E7010999 1   01224696112.1588
E7010999 1   01224696122.7928

The E7010 is the record identifier. This is taken from a P2/94 format used in the seismic industry as defined by the UK Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA).

But what does the rest of it mean?

Look forward to your replies.

Liam

Hello Liam,

According to UKOOA the E7010 record contains 'User Defined Observation Set Data" with the following format

Observation set reference number [ 6, 8] I3
Data field number  [ 9,10] I2
Quality indicator  [11,14] N4
Observation   [15,..] Nx

The Observation fields probably is where the current data goes. I suggest you contact your client for details about the formatting.

Best regards,
Oistein
