correcting time

Posted by Reyna Jenkyns at May 28. 2009

HI,

I have an accurate time stamp for when the profile measurement is received, and I want to use it as a replacement for the time in the data output (Aquadopp Profiler) so that the accuracy of the internal clock isn't an issue.

However, the time should reflect what was at the beginning of the profile. Do I simply need to subtract the average interval from my received time? Or is there a lag between when the measurement stops and the data is sent?

Thanks,

Reyna

Dear Reyna, the time stored with the data and/or sent over the serial port is the start of the data collection.

Yes, I know. However, I do not want to use the time in the data stream. I simply want to use our observatory received time (which has no drift or offset issues). BUT, to be consistent with standard output, I want to "recreate" the time from the start of the profile by subtracting off the appropriate length of time.

I want to know what parameters in the configuration that I can use to determine the time interval from the start of the profile to the time the data is transmitted. If that's unclear, let me know.  Thanks!

Hi Reyna,

You can simply substract the average interval from your received time.
