Binary data on SeaState
Posted by Luca Finotto at Monday 10:06
Dear All,
I'm a new Nortek AWAC user, and I've a problem when I try to read bynary data using SEA STATE software. The AWAC profiler is equipped with NIP. When I try to download binary data, the SW execute the download (in the status window I see the data request and the response) , but I can't see anything in the other windows. After that if I try to download any other data the SW hangs up with a sistem error (modname: ntdll.dll).
Thank in advice.

Dear Luca Finotto,
Could you please provide information about the SeaState version you are running and also the terminal window response to the Get Status toolbar command? It would also be useful if you could attach the configuration file (.ncf) you are using.

Dear Oistein Hurum,
the Seastate version is 1.07 beta 25.
In the attached zipped file there are the Get status response and the configuration. Firts of all I'd like to know if it is possible to open and processing binary data on seastate software.
Best regards

Dear Mr Oisten Hurum,
do you have any news about Seastate and Binary data?? Binary data acquisition is mandatory for our application and so it's very importan for us use Seastate to analize the data from Awac and I'm a little worried.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Luca Finotto,
I am sorry for not responding earlier. I will be looking into this and other SeaState issues this week and will come back to you in a couple of days.

Dear Luca Finotto,
I am afraid the SeaState software is not fully compatible with the NIP binary output format. It works with either NIP ASCII or standard AWAC binary formats. You can however, use SeaState to configure the NIP to output the binary format, but as you have seen, it is not displayed, only recorded to file. The format is primarily intended for integration with external systems. If you are interested in writing your own software to read the binary output we can provide a description of the format. To enable the SeaState online displays the NIP output format must be set to ASCII.
Best regards,
Oistein Hurum
