hole diameter for aquadopp beams

Hi,

I am planning a deployment of an aquadopp profiler. I will put it under an aluminium sheet but I dont know the diameter of the hole that doesn´t interfer with the pulse. Someone could give me an idea of this data?

The Aquadopp brochure has a drawing showing beam angles and head dimensions which you can use to calculate the diameter (available here: http://www.nortek-as.com/lib/brochures/AquadoppProfiler%2006%20b.pdf). The acoustic beams do spread, but not very much at such a close range, so you should be safe assuming the transducer face diameter as the beam diameter. Be sure to allow a little margin for error in mounting the Aquadopp when cutting the hole as well.
