terminal window

Up to Deployment

terminal window

I am setting up an AWAC for a 6 month deployment and I would like to see confirmation that the instrument  is collecting data.  Is it possible to see data output in a terminal window for confirmation that the AWAC is running after set up for deployment?  With the terminal emulator or a hyperterminal window?  What are the data bits, parity and stop bits of the AWAC communication?

Hi Stephanie,

In the latest versions of the AWAC program there is a check box that enables serial output in the first screen that comes up when you start the deployment process. If that box is checked, the measured data will then be transmitted over the serial line. The easiest way is to use the terminal emulator, simply click Alt-T or select Communication -> Terminal emulator after you have finished the deployment process to see the data (8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit).

Another way to check the instrument is to use a radio that can be tuned to 600 kHz or 1 MHz.  You will hear a loud buzz in the radio every time the AWAC transmits a pulse.

Best regards,

Sven Nylund
